If you’re planning a city break in Belgrade, you can easily make your trip fit your budget. The journey from Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla Airport to the city centre usually takes around 30 minutes, and you can get there by taxi, public bus or shared shuttle. Once you’re in the city centre, you’ll find Belgrade is very walkable with lots of large pedestrianised areas, so it’s a great city to get to know on foot. There’s also a busy public transport system with regular buses to take you across town. All you need to do is buy a travel card from a local kiosk to make the most of public transport in the city.

While you’re here, stroll through Kalemegdan Park and visit the ancient, ominous Belgrade Fortress, whicbrh overlooks the point where the Danube and Sava rivers meet. See the city’s most striking church, the Church of Saint Sava – a grand white marble temple that’s been a work in progress for over a hundred years. Enjoy some natural beauty at Ada Ciganlija, Belgrade’s river island which is a little oasis away from the bustle of the city. Here you’ll find oak and elm forests to explore as well as plenty of picturesque swimming spots.
